PERSONAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

New York Learning Connections, LLC presents financial management information that can jump-start future financial success and rebuild finances that have been compromised. Participants will learn of skills and techniques to manage money and credit and reduce the chance of financial problems. Call 632-4980 to register and/or for more information.

This two-session course covers important driving skills, accident prevention and rules of the road. Participants must be 50 years of age or older. Those who complete the course could qualify for a 10% discount on their automobile liability and collision insurance premiums and have up to 4 violation points subtracted from their license. Late arrivals will be refused admittance to the class. YOU MUST PREREGISTER FOR THIS COURSE. THE $10 FEE MUST BE PAID IN CASH OR BY CHECK. NO CHARGE PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. REGISTRATION FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED, PUT ON HOLD OR TRANSFERRED FOR ANY REASON FOR THIS COURSE. NO DISCOUNTS. 

BUILD A GREENS SWAG

In this class we will learn how to design a base of greens and decorate with flowers and ribbons. You can also create your swag to be vertical or horizontal, to fit your preference. It can be used to accent a group of pictures, placed over a mirror or painting, or used as a door piece. This gorgeous swag designed with a medley of silk ingredients will definitely get attention no matter where it’s displayed, an elegant accent to any room. It’s fun to create, an easy design and you will feel like a professional when you see your finished product.

CAPOEIRA FOR ADULTS (Ages 13 & Up)

Capoeira is a Brazilian art form and self-defense with strong aerobic and dance elements. It is a harmony of forces that gives you power, flexibility, endurance and self-discovery. Capoeira balances the mind, body and soul. It is a graceful, exciting art form that teaches you to be alert. The only indigenous martial art of the Americas, Capoeira was developed by African slaves in Brazil. The art keeps its strong traditions and enables you to break through limits, revitalizing you for everyday life. Within each class you will work on flexibility, strength, endurance, capoeira movements, music and tradition. Wear comfortable clothing; bring a towel and water.

CAPOEIRA FOR CHILDREN (Ages 5-7)

Capoeira is an exciting art form and self-defense from Brazil created over 400 years ago as a fight for freedom. Today’s Capoeira keeps its traditional roots as a fighting form but also includes aspects of dance, music, sport, play and community. This program is designed to give children a basic introduction to Capoeira. Students will learn Capoeira movements, history, music and tradition while beginning to understand what Capoeira is, how to "play" Capoeira and to respect and befriend their fellow students. Wear comfortable clothing; bring a towel and water.

CAPOEIRA FOR CHILDREN (Ages 8-10)

Today’s Capoeira keeps its traditional roots as a fighting form but also includes aspects of dance, music, sport, play and community. This program is designed to give children a basic knowledge of Capoeira movements, tradition, music and history. Students will be introduced to Capoeira practice through individual instruction, partnerships, games and other strategies. Students will also learn to perform tasks on their own, work in group situations, and respect each other all while doing Capoeira. Wear comfortable clothing; bring a towel and water.

This course is required to obtain your New York State driver's license. Anyone attending this class should have knowledge of the driving manual and bring his/her driver's permit and a pen with them. A test is given at the end to evaluate each student' s retention of the information presented during the course. The classroom training completion certificate expires one year from the date of issuance. YOU MUST PREREGISTER FOR THIS COURSE. There will be a $5 replacement fee for any lost valid certificates. NO DISCOUNTS.

Principal drivers who complete this course can decrease their motor vehicle insurance liability and collision premiums and reduce their violation points by a maximum of 4 points from their driving record. NO DISCOUNTS. 

The human voice was the first instrument. If you are interested in developing your own instrument, PRIVATE HALF-HOUR VOICE LESSONS may help you to achieve that goal. These lessons include breath control, range extension, pitch awareness, quality of vocal sound and development of a song repertoire. Whether you sing for your own enjoyment, wish to join a group or aspire to be the next American Idol, learning the proper vocal methods can be beneficial as well as enjoyable.

No one seems to question the popularity of learning to play the piano, guitar or drums. But, what about the woodwind instruments? Don' t miss this opportunity to learn to play the flute, clarinet or saxophone - your choice. Private half-hour lessons will be given on Tuesday evenings. Students must supply their own instrument.

GET A HEAD START ON THE 2007 PERSONAL WATER CRAFT BOATING SEASON. The Empire Safety Council' s Boating Safety Course meets New York State requirements for a Personal Water Craft (PWC) Boating Safety Course. It is intended to provide a comprehensive yet basic knowledge to acquaint you with safe and legal boating practices. The Boating Safety Course is an 8-hour instructor-led workshop which includes a student text-workbook, a new boating safety video and a 50 question multiple choice exam with an answer form. Satisfactory completion (40 correct answers) will earn you an official course completion certificate and may also earn you up to a 15% discount annually on your water craft insurance. It is important to note that Empire' s Boating Safety Course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and meets mandatory education requirements for states that have boater education laws. Course completion is good for life and is recognized by the United States Coast Guard.
